The how-to's of surviving parenting the second-time around.

Let's Talk About Gardening!!

Now is a great time to think about planting . So now it the time to plan our newest gardening ideas! And gardening is a great way to spend time with your kids as well. Most adults who garden began this hobby as children. If you want your child to love gardening, the best things you can do is give them good gardening experiences. These will be great memories in years to come. Show them how much you love gardening just by reveling in your own garden every day.

Kids have so much competing for their attention: television, computers, sports, and tons  of "planned" activities from library hours to birthday parties, from sleepovers to dances. So gardening has to stand on its own. Rooting cuttings in water doesn't cut it. Enlist kids of all ages to weed as much as their capabilities and attention span will allow. Let kids choose what to plant. Offer guidance and make sure there are some sure fire success planting choices among their picks. But if they want beets, roses, and petunias, why not? Relax your standards. Crooked rows or weeds as pets are fine. Remember: one of the best things you ever grow may be a gardener.

We at GrandsPlace wish you all the best with your planting efforts. Please feel free to share your gardening tips or your favorite online gardening sites with all of us!

One of the best catalogs to have on hand for reference is the 520-page brochure from a dynamic Oregon nursery. Send a $4 check to Forestfarm, 990 Tetherow Road,Williams, OR. 97544-9599 to receive their spring catalog. When you write, tell them you heard of them from Jack Eden. This nursery, without a doubt, offers the largest selection of rooted shrubs and trees in the nation, maybe in the world. Once you see the catalog, you'll salivate at the selection.
