How to apply for financial help -TANF CHILD ONLY
GRANT
(Temporary Assistance For Needy Families - Child Only)
TANF is a federally funded program that each state administers
to help families survive. It provides a small monthly payment and medical
insurance for the support of the child. Being enrolled in TANF also makes
the child eligible for other programs such as free school lunches, WIC,
head Start and other local programs.
All children that live with grandparents and other kinship families
are eligible for TANF if the child meets income guidelines. The income
and assets of the caregiver do not apply. The biggest reason people are
denied this benefit is because they put the wrong information on the application.
With the Child only grant you are not applying for welfare for yourself,
only the child.
